Rooted in her upbringing on her grandmother's mountainous Puerto Rican farm, Jessica developed a profound reverence for nature and a passion for education. Moving to New York City, she recognized the importance of bridging her dual cultural worlds.

Drawing from her diverse background, Jessica founded For the People and Kids, Inc., a community-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children through educational and nature-led programs. We believe in the importance of holistic development, nurturing creativity, and fostering a sense of connection to nature and the community.

Jessica's commitment to experiential, bilingual education creates an enriching atmosphere where curiosity thrives, and connections with the natural world deepen. Her teaching style incorporates hands-on experiences, interactive activities, and a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional classroom settings. By combining language inclusivity with a strong emphasis on S.T.R.E.A.M. disciplines, Jessica empowers learners of all ages to explore, discover, and develop a profound appreciation for the interconnected wonders of the world around them.

Livia Fleming's upbringing in the vast Slovakian forests immersed her in the beauty of nature, where she developed a deep appreciation for the farm-to-table lifestyle at her family's abundant farm. Her journey led her to pursue training in biotechnology and the fields of food and cosmetic sciences. Fuelled by her upbringing, education, and profound passion for holistic medicine, Livia delved into the study of wild medicinal plants.

Livia is a lead educator with the Wild Roots Project, a DIG Farm initiative that focuses on foraging, herbalism, and mycology.  She actively contributes to a sustainability committee in the BH district, where she dedicates her efforts to engaging students in community service and fostering a connection with the natural world, all while supporting those in need.

One of Livia's many talents is showcased in the products curated by Designed by Liv. Her creative vision and expertise shine through these unique kits, which embody her multifaceted abilities and dedication to providing exceptional experiences.

Livia Fleming's remarkable background, education, and commitment to holistic medicine have shaped her into a passionate advocate for sustainable practices and the well-being of individuals and communities. Through her various endeavors, she seeks to inspire others to engage in community service, forge connections with nature, and embrace the transformative power of holistic approaches.

Joe Roman is a vital member of our Board of Directors, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our nonprofit. As the Executive Director at Judicial Title Insurance, he exemplifies outstanding leadership and management skills. Joe’s career is marked by a strong dedication to finance education and leadership development, providing one-on-one mentoring and consulting.

A cum laude graduate of Harvard University, Joe spent over a decade as a history teacher in NYC, where his innovative teaching methods made a lasting impact on his students. His commitment to education extends into community leadership, showcasing his passion for fostering growth and development.

Joe’s expertise in finance and leadership greatly enriches our finance literature workshops, offering valuable insights and strategic perspectives. His enthusiasm and steadfast support have been instrumental in enhancing our finance programs and providing individualized leadership consulting. We are fortunate to have Joe Roman on our team, as his expertise and passion propel our mission forward with energy and clarity.

Anne Mastrogiacomo has dedicated the past decade to the world of agriculture. Starting as a seasonal farmer, she developed a deep connection with the earth, plants, and pollinators. Her journey continued as she took on roles such as Farm Manager, Market Manager, and Director of Agriculture, where she honed her skills in program and project management, developed annual crop plans, and focused on farm education.

Today, Anne can often be found exploring her yard with her two young daughters, teaching them the names of the wildflowers that bloom around them. In her spare time, she enjoys baking bread, biscuits, and any treats featuring chocolate and peanut butter. Each month, she also channels her creativity into crafting our newsletters!

Katie Sheehan, formerly a School Psychologist, 

draws from her profound understanding of education and child development.  In addition to her roles within her family and in academia, Katie is also an accomplished fiber artist and an ardent advocate for the arts and environmental conservation. Alongside her husband, Patrick, she has co-founded Hippie Feet Tie Dyes, their own company dedicated to spreading creativity through crafting and fiber arts classes.

Katie introduces young minds to an early appreciation for the environment through hands-on experiences such as tending to her garden and imparting sustainable practices. Her life seamlessly blends the roles of motherhood, her educational expertise, artistic creativity, and her unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. She is a dedicated educator, a nurturing guide, a creative spirit, and an impassioned champion for a sustainable way of life.

Danielle Colavito, the visionary behind Soul Shining Wellness, is dedicated to empowering women to embrace health, wholeness, and the radiance of their souls. As a wife and mother of two energetic boys, Danielle's journey as a mother and her children's health challenges led her to shift her focus and career path. For the past decade, she has devoted herself to helping families achieve wellness and prevention.

Having worked as an event planner for over 15 years, Danielle's transition into wellness and prevention was driven by her experiences and a deep desire to support other families. She is a certified Revelation Wellness® Fitness Instructor, Christian-based Wellness Coach, Urban Farmer, Professional Affiliate with the Juice Plus+ Company, and a dedicated Homeschool Mom. Danielle passionately works with fellow mothers through her diverse skill set, providing guidance and support on their family's wellness journey.

Whether leading invigorating workouts, facilitating women's small groups, or teaching families how to nourish their bodies and cultivate their food year-round, Danielle finds immense joy in witnessing families thrive. Her commitment to empowering others and creating a nurturing community is at the heart of Soul Shining Wellness.

Immersed in the world of yoga since 2011, Nicole Sidman, the creative force behind Anahata Yoga, LLC, teaches with a deep passion and an infectious sense of pure joy. Holding prestigious certifications from Yoga Alliance as a 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Teacher (YACEP), Nicole brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice.

With a commitment to sharing the transformative power of yoga, Nicole has not only led numerous yoga teacher trainings but has also curated a diverse array of workshops and wellness programs. Her teaching style goes beyond the physical practice, delving into the spiritual and holistic aspects of yoga.

Nicole's philosophy revolves around the profound connection between movement, breath, and our sacred Earth. She emphasizes the significance of staying attuned to one's Divine essence, fostering a journey of self-discovery and inner harmony. In her classes, Nicole inspires others to explore the deeper dimensions of yoga, creating a space where individuals can embark on a transformative and empowering journey. Anna Mayta, of Mayta Fusion Dance, is originally from Chile and is an accomplished educator, dance improviser, choreographer, and dance artist. She earned her BA in Dance in Education from Empire State College in June 2001. In November 2008, she obtained a certificate to teach yoga from Svyasa Swami Vivekananda Yoga University in Bangalore, India. Recognized for her talent and contributions, Anna received a dissemination award from the Dutchess County Arts Council in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2006.

In October 2020, Anna was selected for a residency at the Bethany Arts Center in Ossining, NY, where she crafted a solo dance piece advocating for gender equality. Her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices continued in 2022 when she was granted funding from CREATE to choreograph a piece highlighting the experiences of the Latinx community in Hudson, NY, confronting linguistic prejudice.  Anna Mayta is passionate about teaching and shares her expertise through various mediums. She specializes in teaching Spanish through movement and fusion dance, seamlessly blending African, Classical Indian, Flamenco, Chilean, Modern, and Latin dance styles. Anna serves as an adjunct professor of dance at Columbia Greene Community College in Hudson, NY, and conducts classes throughout the Hudson Valley, NY, and Berkshire area.

In addition to her teaching commitments, Anna directs her dance company, Mayta Fusion Dance, where she continues to inspire and innovate within the dance community.
 

Elizabeth Mills is the founder of Plastics Made Pretty and a dedicated crafts educator. With a lifelong passion for environmental sustainability, Elizabeth is committed to transforming how we view and use recycled materials. From a young age, she believed that recycling plastics could profoundly impact the world. Today, she channels this early enthusiasm into creating innovative home goods and decor items made from recycled and upcycled materials.

Elizabeth’s mission extends far beyond crafting; she is an advocate for the circular economy, demonstrating the immense value of repurposing and upcycling. Through her engaging workshops and educational programs, she empowers individuals to recognize the potential in everyday materials and promotes sustainable practices. Her work not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our homes but also deepens our understanding of environmental stewardship, encouraging a more conscious and eco-friendly approach to consumption and creativity.

Dr. Michael Garber brings 40 years of experience with the Diamond Method for Music, alongside three decades of leading music outreach programs. His deep scholarly knowledge of Tin Pan Alley music, combined with his teaching experience across a wide age range—from four to ninety-four—adds significant depth to the project.

In addition to his PhD, Michael has training as a dancer and holds a diploma from the Institute for Music and Health (founded by Dr. Diamond), as well as a certificate in the CME program from the Australian National University.

Dr. Mike offers a unique blend of musical expertise and educational experience, along with a steadfast commitment to enriching the creative lives of our learners.

Dr. Sue Carpenter is a seasoned educator with over 45 years of experience, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the project. As an accomplished artist and performer, she has dedicated 30 years to community art-making and studying the Diamond Method for Art and Music. For the past 15 years, Sue has taught future educators how to effectively engage children in the arts.

She holds a certificate in Community Music Engagement (CME) from the Australian National University and earned her PhD with a case study on an inclusive CME initiative in Canberra, inspired by Dr. Diamond’s work and philosophy.

Dr. Sue offers a unique blend of artistic expertise and educational experience, along with a deep commitment to enriching the creative lives of our learners.

Nasya Camacho, of Solidago Wellness, is a clinical herbalist, dedicated yoga teacher, and creative Earth lover. Her passion lies in harmonizing with the elements to restore the connection between plants and people. Nasya's mission is to guide others back to their roots through education, community, and the healing magic of plants. She works closely with clients, blending herbal traditions, movement practices, and self-exploration to provide integrative support tailored to each individual's health journey.

Nasya's journey towards holistic living began in college, a transformative time marked by personal challenges and a quest for healing. A pivotal yoga class shifted her perspective, fostering deep connections with her body, mind, and heart. This experience led her to become a registered yoga teacher with over 500 hours of training and nearly ten years of teaching in her community.

Yoga opened the door to wellness for Nasya, teaching her the power of gratitude and openness and eventually inspiring her to explore herbalism. In her early twenties, while physically strong externally, she faced internal struggles with severe skin issues, gut disharmonies, and anxiety. Seeking deeper healing, Nasya found her calling at ArborVitae: School of Traditional Herbalism. Their three-year clinical program deepened her understanding of plant medicine's profound impact on holistic health.

For Nasya, herbalism is more than a practice; it's a profound connection to Earth's healing magic, facilitating inner reconnection. Guided by ArborVitae's community of teachers, her approach to holistic care spans all aspects of life, shaping her dedication to wellness and holistic healing.

Nadya Mainskaya, founder of Nadya Auris, is a certified sound healer, guided meditation practitioner, and intuitive soul guide. Her journey into meditation began with psychology courses and learning autogenic training in 2006 while pursuing a degree in pedagogics (TESOL). Originally from Russia, Nadya later relocated to the United States, where she earned a BBA degree in marketing management and spent a decade working in diverse corporate environments.

Despite her successful corporate career, the transformative experiences of autogenic training set Nadya on a path of continual self-development. Over the years, she pursued various courses, attended retreats, engaged life coaches, and delved into soul work, sound healing, voice work, and embodiment techniques. These practices not only enriched her life but also inspired her to share their profound benefits with others.

Today, Nadya joyfully channels her extensive personal journey into Nadya Auris, where she facilitates practices that have profoundly transformed her own life. Her mission is to empower others through meditation, sound healing, and intuitive guidance, fostering deep personal growth and inner harmony.

Brigitte Bürgler is a dedicated science educator and a mother of three boys. Her diverse background spans countries such as Brazil (her birthplace), Cameroon, Ghana, Mozambique, and the United States. Fluent in Portuguese, French, and English, she leveraged her linguistic skills as a consultant, evaluating health, environmental, and humanitarian projects for international development organizations around the world.In recent years, Brigitte has played a pivotal role as a science teacher, impacting the lives of over a thousand students in New York City's public schools. Her commitment and innovation in science education were recognized with prestigious awards, including New York University's Astor Fellowship for her exemplary dedication and Math for America's Master Teacher Fellowship.Brigitte's teaching philosophy centers on engaging students through hands-on investigations, making complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting. Beyond her professional life, she finds joy in exploring the world, delving into scientific literature, immersing herself in diverse cultures, and nurturing sustainable gardening practices. 

Mason Abzun is a Mount Kisco native with a deep passion for providing resources to everyone in her community. As a dedicated volunteer for community organizations such as the Mount Kisco Arts Council, she has actively worked to bring art and opportunity into spaces accessible to all. Her commitment to community enrichment is evident in her efforts to make art a shared and inclusive experience.

In her role as an educator with For the People and Kids, Inc., Mason strives to bridge the gaps in Westchester County by offering equal access to nature, education, and art to people of all ages. Her work focuses on creating inclusive programs that inspire and empower the community, ensuring that everyone has the chance to experience the transformative power of these resources.

Mason is currently a sophomore at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where she is pursuing a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Her educational journey has equipped her with a diverse skill set, including expertise in illustration, fashion design, clothes construction, and graphic design. Mason's creative talents and academic pursuits reflect her dedication to both her personal growth and her mission to enhance her community.

With her unique blend of artistic skills and community-focused initiatives, Mason Abzun continues to make a positive impact, fostering an environment where creativity and opportunity flourish for all.

Mireyli Morales is a dedicated Mount Kisco native currently residing in Westchester, New York. She is a junior at SUNY New Paltz, pursuing a major in Art Education. Driven by a strong passion for both art and education, Mireyli aspires to become an art teacher, aiming to work with either young children or high school students.

As an active member of the Art Education Student Association's executive board, Mireyli is enthusiastic about advancing her journey in art education and building connections with her peers. She specializes in drawing and painting but also enjoys exploring 3D art. Mireyli is committed to being a supportive mentor for her future students and inspiring them to tap into their creative potential.

She firmly believes that art is a vital part of education and is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and nurturing classroom environment. Despite initially not envisioning a career in teaching, Mireyli has discovered that this path is where she truly belongs. She looks forward to the opportunities ahead and is excited about making a meaningful impact in the field of art education.

Isaac Bauer is deeply passionate about fostering meaningful connections and inspiring young minds through engaging and creative educational experiences. With a blend of empathy, humor, and a flair for artistic expression, Isaac has dedicated himself to enriching the lives of children in Westchester County.For two years, Isaac has honed his teaching skills while leading after-school enrichment clubs and programs in elementary schools across the region. From Pre-K students to 5th graders, Isaac's approachable demeanor and adaptable teaching style have enabled him to connect with children at various developmental stages and those with special needs. His ability to infuse elements of humor, music, and emotional expression into his lessons not only captivates young learners but also fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment.Isaac's thirst for knowledge and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Quinnipiac University, which he earned in 2020. With a focus on Media Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Isaac is equipped with a diverse skill set and a passion for storytelling and innovation.Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children and the community, Isaac continues to seek out opportunities to inspire, educate, and connect with others.
